Community Services Officers
Community Services Officers, also known as Police Area Representatives (PAR), are sworn police officers who specialize in responding to non-emergency calls for service and community-focused policing. PAR officers provide professional law enforcement services while focusing on problem-solving, customer service, and quality-of-life concerns.
By handling non-emergency and follow-up calls, PAR officers allow patrol officers to remain available for high-priority and emergency incidents while ensuring the community receives timely and effective police response.
For emergencies or situations involving immediate danger, residents should always call 911.
What Community Services Officers Do
PAR officers handle a wide range of calls and services that do not require an immediate emergency response. Their responsibilities include assisting residents with documentation, referrals, and guidance, and support patrol operations, special events, and community initiatives as needed.
These officers also assist residents in need, provide referrals to city or social services, conduct follow-up visits, and support patrol operations. Their role combines enforcement authority with education, mediation, and customer service.
